A&L's Construction and Redi-Mix

Calcium Chloride

Calcium chloride is able to hasten the rate of hydration for cement. A decrease in setting time helps protect newly placed concrete from becoming damaged. The effect is most noticeable in summer weather. Ready-mixed concrete sets more slowly at temperatures below 70°F, and even more so between 30°F and 50°F. Contractors can continue to rely on concrete construction in the fall and winter, and ensure that their work is of good quality.
