Concrete Admixtures & Additives

Internal Concrete Sealer

Sealers are essential in maintaining a strong, crack resistant concrete surface. Common sealers are typically applied to the surface following a pour. However, internal concrete sealers are added directly to the mix inside the concrete truck drum to promote an even distribution of the internal sealer. Our sealers aid in protecting the concrete internally by repelling water from both the inside and outside.

Concrete Water Reducer

Water reducers are typically added to load of ready mix concrete prior to arriving to the project location. The admixture reduces water content in concrete and the need to add water. It also can help decrease porosity, which can minimize the space available for water to penetrate and resisting damage during freeze-thaw cycles. Water Reducers also improve the workability and overall concrete compressive strength.

Concrete Accelerator (Calcium Chloride, NCA/DCI)

Ready-to-use, liquid admixture that is formulated to accelerate time of setting and to increase early concrete strengths. This useful admixture is helpful for cold weather applications, as the reduced setting and cure times can lower the risk damage caused by frost and ice. Calcium chloride is also available in bag form where it may be added to the load at the plant or on the job site just before pouring.

Concrete Retarder

Concrete retarders are useful in extending setting time of concrete. This is especially beneficial for placements on high temperature days. The admixture slows the hardening of the surface improving the workability of the concrete. This is also used to achieve an exposed aggregate look.

Concrete Plasticizer

Plasticizers promote the workability of concrete mixtures, while reducing the need for water. Plasticizers are useful in high-strength mixes that can be difficult to mix preventing any reduction of compressive strength from added water.

Corrosion Inhibitor

Corrosion inhibitors are used to inhibit the surface rust of steel-reinforced concrete structures and extend the life of metal prone to oxidization. They are effective in reducing the rate at which moisture and chloride additives penetrate the concrete, which can increase the rate of corrosion.
